The Luvely Rae’s One Night Stand: The Past

The Luvely Rae’s One Night Stand was created as a temporary event back in 2008. The Luvely Rae had received a phone call from a friend over a little East Village bar called Rififi.* The media had announced only weeks before that the bar would be shutting it’s doors that month, but here it was past the deadline of the venue’s supposed departure and they were still open. Rae always eager for a production challenged agreed to provide entertainment for one night only and began calling talent that had been waiting to tryout for her successful variety show Spice!

A show no one had heard of
Talent nobody knew
At a bar that the world thought was closed
For one night only!

The early days

Recipe for disaster? Not really. There were maybe 10 people in the audience, but the performers gave it their all. Rae agreed to bring back the show a week later, with the understanding that The Luvely Rae’s One Night Stand would offer a home to newer performers. It wasn’t long before Rae had invited more seasoned professionals to come in and mentor newer talent and that the doors were opened to out of town performers as a place to perform while making new friends. Since it’s humble beginnings The Luvely Rae’s One Night Standhas featured over 150 performers, many of which have gone on to produce their own shows. Some of NYC’s hottest talent enjoyed their very first shimmy on our stage.

The Luvely Rae’s One Night Stand: The Present

This show features both new talent and industry professionals. Though we have limited the number of “naughty novices” we will book in one show, as we now wish to focus on assisting the mid-career performer by providing more performance opportunities and residencies.

General Admission is $8 in advance $12 at the door. The show takes place at

The evening begins at 8pm with Go Go dancing and includes 2 intermissions. Our audience participation games are a great way to win a free drink and our raffle offers some of the best raffle prizes in town. Tuesday Burlesque is a great way to shake up your work week.
This sassy audience member not only joined the audience game (only to wow our audience), but returned a month later to maker her burlesque debut right on stage at One Night Stand. Since then she has traveled throughout the US and Japan showing off her talents.
